A.S 90030 Part Two

For this test we had to pick a subject and write half a page about that topic i choose to do "what are the reasons it is dangerous to drink and drive". This is what i wrote.
Drink driving is not only illegal in our country, but it is also extremely dangerous to operate a vehicle when you are under the influence of alcohol. There are many reasons as to why people decide to drink and drive but there is no excuse to commit such a crime. People drink and drive because they don’t want to stay the night at where the party is or if the pub is shutting and they have to leave, this leads to a dreadful ending, (People getting killed or sent to hospital) because they decide to drive home instead of calling a cab or ringing someone and ask to be picked up.

Some reasons why people drink and drive could be because they are tired and just want to go home, they want to go to a different party because the one they are at is getting boring or because they simply want to go for a drive, these are just a few reasons why people would drink and drive but there is no excuse for it, I think when people are intoxicated they don’t think about what they are doing.

There are a lot of options you can choose rather than drink and drive. You could play a game just like those drink and driving ads you see on television, and the loser has to sober drive. You could organise to be dropped off and be picked up by a close relative or a friend, or you could simply call a taxi when you are ready to go home, see it is not necessary to drink and drive.

Personally I think that people who drink and drive are irresponsible and obviously don’t pay any attention to the news and the ads on television. If you are going to be stupid and drink and drive when you are under the influence of alcohol, why drink? Don’t you no its only going to end in a tragic accident, it’s just like committing suicide or permanently damaging yourself etc ending up with an amputated leg or permanently paralyzing yourself. In the end it is up to you whether you drink and drive or not, make your decision wisely.

Woman and Alcohol A.S 90030

Women and Alcohol

She has a glass or two of wine and feels it go straight to her head. He has the same amount to drink and feels fine.

Researchers confirm something many women have always suspected-it takes less alcohol for a woman to feel tipsy than it does for a man, and it’s not all to do with body size. Even if a woman is the same weight as a man and drinks the same amount of alcohol, she will end up with a blood alcohol of level a third higher than his. It will also take a third longer for her body to eliminate the alcohol from her blood.

Why alcohol affects women more than men and is potentially more harmful is one of a number of topics covered in a booklet produced by the Alcohol Advisory Council.

Alcohol affects women more than men because women have a higher proportion of body fat and less water in their bodies than men. This means that once it is in the bloodstream of a woman, the alcohol is not diluted and has a stronger effect. So even if a woman is the same size as a man, she will generally be affected more quickly and feel the effects for much longer than the man will.

Both males and females have an enzyme in their stomach designed to process alcohol into a safer substance, yet for reasons that are not yet clear to scientists, this enzyme is 70-80 percent more effective in men than in women. If the liver of a healthy young woman is compared with that of a healthy young man, it will generally take her liver longer to process one drink than his, and a person starts to feel drunk when they drink alcohol faster than their liver can process it.

New Zealand research has found more women are drinking and the amount of alcohol consumed by women is increasing. Young women are also drinking more, and what is particularly concerning is that a significant proportion of young women are adopting a pattern of drinking similar to their male counterparts-that is, consuming large amounts of alcohol in one go.

Other topics included in the booklet are alcohol and women’s health, alcohol and sex, alcohol and pregnancy and alcohol and breastfeeding. There is also a guide to how much is too much and a section on getting help and advice.

We had to write this as a test for A.S 90030, i achieved with excellence

Shapes

I found doing these really fun. It made us be creative and we weren't doing dull things. This task was just a practice for us as we will probably be doing these later on in the year ( doing banners etc).

I enjoy typing with the right fingers. It was quite hard for me learning how to type with the right fingers as it felt uncomfortable, but i carried on typing with the right fingers (although i wasn't typing very fast) and i got use to it. I can now write 50 wpm this is a great achievement for me. my wpm for typing has increased hugely. I can now type 62 wpm i achieved this on the 25th of March 2009
